Spring 2008

Letter from the Stenton Chair
Here we are in 2008!
This is the ultimate year of the NSCDA/PA 2004-2008 Strategic Plan. We have accomplished many of the goals that we set for ourselves in this plan, one of which was to continue to promote and support Stenton as the most visible endeavor of the Pennsylvania Society of The National Society of The Colonial Dames of America. Our Capital Campaign: A Sense of History, A Sense of Place, A Vision for Tomorrow sprang from this Strategic Plan, and we have made excellent progress in our fundraising efforts. We have received wonderful support for our History Hunters Youth Reporter education program, as well as support for much needed renovations to our education wing. Of the many mantras and affirmations that we have developed over the past five years, these successes reflect one of my favorites: "Sustainability and Professionalism". The first is accomplished through fundraising (your generous support), and the second is evidenced by our excellent staff. But there is still work to be done. And with that in mind, the Strategic Planning Committee will meet very soon to begin the planning for our next five years.
With all of this said, I am pleased to report that, as we begin 2008, the State of Stenton is very strong. We are Strong in History, Strong in the Present and Strong in our Planning for the Future.
Do you have ideas and dreams for Stenton? I welcome you to share them with us. It is fun to realize that, thanks to your support and the work of the NSCDA/PA, many of our dreams of just five years ago have been realized and are now the foundation for the future.
The old motto may have been "We can't wait 'till 2008" and now perhaps: "What will be seen in 2013?"
In the meantime, please join us for a visit. We have some great programming this year, and just for fun, please join us at our splendid Garden Party on May 8th.
Sincerely,
Jane Foster Willson
